Description:  Write your very own graphic novel with Jonathan Todd, author and illustrator of the forthcoming middle-grade graphic novel Timid (Scholastic 2021). Todd is also co-founder of the Boston Kids Comics Fest. Graphic novelist Jonathan Todd returns to the Southborough Library with this popular workshop. Attendees will learn how to plot out a story, ink a graphic novel page, and leave with the beginning of their stories. All supplies will be provided. Description:  Join critically acclaimed cartoonist Joel Christian Gill for this exciting talk to kick-off Shrewsbury Public Library's annual celebration of comics, cartoons, and all things pop culture. This online program is in collaboration with other local area libraries, including the Southborough Library. Joel Christian Gill is a cartoonist and historian who speaks nationally on the importance of sharing stories. He is the author of the acclaimed memoir Fights: One Boy's Triumph Over Violence, cited as one of the best graphic novels of 2020 by The New York Times and for which he was awarded the 2021 Cartoonist Studio Prize. He wrote the words and drew the pictures for Fast Enough: Bessie Stringfield’s First Ride and the award-winning graphic novel series Strange Fruit: Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History, as well as 3 volumes of Tales of The Talented Tenth, which tell the stories of Bass Reeves, Bessie Stringfield and Robert Smalls. Description:  Write your very own graphic novel with Jonathan Todd, author and illustrator of the forthcoming middle-grade graphic novel Timid (Scholastic 2021). Todd is also co-founder of the Boston Kids Comics Fest. Graphic novelist Jonathan Todd returns to the Southborough Library with this popular workshop. Attendees will learn how to plot out a story, ink a graphic novel page, and leave with the beginning of their stories. All supplies will be provided. Description:  Join critically acclaimed cartoonist Joel Christian Gill for this exciting talk to kick-off Shrewsbury Public Library's annual celebration of comics, cartoons, and all things pop culture. This online program is in collaboration with other local area libraries, including the Southborough Library. Joel Christian Gill is a cartoonist and historian who speaks nationally on the importance of sharing stories. He is the author of the acclaimed memoir Fights: One Boy's Triumph Over Violence, cited as one of the best graphic novels of 2020 by The New York Times and for which he was awarded the 2021 Cartoonist Studio Prize. He wrote the words and drew the pictures for Fast Enough: Bessie Stringfield’s First Ride and the award-winning graphic novel series Strange Fruit: Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History, as well as 3 volumes of Tales of The Talented Tenth, which tell the stories of Bass Reeves, Bessie Stringfield and Robert Smalls. Write Now! is a club that will provide an opportunity to share your writing with a small group of other adult writers, get and give valuable feedback, and explore various genres of creative writing.
